Add quadrature encoders to your micro metal gearmotors (extended back shaft version required) with this kit that uses a magnetic disc and Hall effect sensors to provide 12 counts per revolution of the motor shaft. The sensors operate from 2.7 V to 18 V and provide digital outputs that can be connected directly to a microcontroller or other digital circuit. These encoders have a top-entry, 6-pin male JST SH-type connector, and we have cables that work with them available in several lengths (12 cm, 30 cm, and 75 cm). This module is compatible with all of the dual-shaft micro metal gearmotors we carry, including the HPCB versions.

It works with our assortment of 6-pin female JST SH-style cables and can be used to more easily access the pins of our Micro Metal Gearmotor Encoders with top-entry and side-entry connectors. The silkscreen on the bottom side of the board is labeled with this specific application in mind, indicating which pin on the breakout board would correspond to which pin on the encoder.
This version features a top-entry connector and is individually packaged and fully tested.

These magnetic discs can be used with our micro metal gearmotors with extended motor shafts as part of a quadrature encoder system that offers 12 counts per revolution. They are 2 mm thick with an outer diameter of 7.65 mm and an inner diameter of 1.0 mm. Appropriate Hall Effect sensors, such as those in our magnetic encoder pair kit with top-entry connector for micro metal gearmotors, are required to complete the system. These discs are bulk-packaged and must be ordered in multiples of five.

Add quadrature encoders to your LP, MP, or HP micro metal gearmotors (extended back shaft version required) with this kit consisting of two sensor boards, two 3-tooth encoder wheels, and two 5-tooth encoder wheels. The installed system does not exceed the 12 mm × 10 mm cross section of the motors and extends only 5 mm beyond the plastic motor end cap. The 3-tooth wheel provides 12 counts per revolution; using the 5-tooth wheel yields 20 counts per revolution. This version is intended for use at 5 V.
Note: This board is not compatible with the HPCB micro metal gearmotors; it is only compatible with LP, MP, and HP dual-shaft micro metal gearmotors.
